This Saturday 4/4/08, there is a family fishing festival at Belmont Lake State Park sponsored by the DEC, OPRHP and I Fish NY. It starts at 10:00 and they are having fishing clinics, games, balloon bouncers and contestants. This is a very kid friendly event. The KFA-NY will be at this event, we will have a booth set up with information about our club and we will be volunteering with the kids cutting up bait, untangling lines and general fishing instruction so come on down and stop buy our booth and say hi. KFA-NY INDOOR MEETINGOn Wednesday April 9, 2008 is the last KFA-NY indoor meeting. This meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Cedar Beach Marina Sport Fishing Education Center Ocean Parkway Babylon, NY. This is our last meeting before hitting the water. This meeting is open to all members and non-members. At this meeting we will: 1. Have a presentation on cold water kayaking (drysuits, wader/dry top combos) 2. New By-laws will be distributed to members 3. 2008 on the water meeting schedule for May, June and July will be announced 4. A presentation on fishing Jamaica Bay (in preparation of the tournament) 5. The new club flag will be unveiled 6. 1st NEW YORK STATE PADDLE CRAFT SAFETY CHECK National Safe Boating Week starts May 17 On Saturday May 17, 2008 New York State Park Recreation and Historic Preservation is hosting the 1st annual New York State Paddle Craft Safety Check at Captree State Park from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm Now there is a check for the non motorized vessels. There will be the safety check a water trail to paddle through, displays, on-water demonstrations and give-a-ways. KFA-NY will hopefully be working with another kayak club at this event as we receive more information we will pass it on. |
